Secure Logistics, Flawless Delivery: Key Considerations in Marble and Slab Shipping

In the natural stone industry, producing premium quality is only half the battle; transporting these valuable materials to the final project site undamaged requires an equal level of high professionalism. The first and most critical stage in slab shipping is the design of heavy-duty wooden bundles (A-frames) tailored to the structural characteristics of the stone. All wooden packaging materials we utilize undergo heat treatment (fumigation) in accordance with international ISPM 15 standards. During the placement of slabs into these bundles, we insert custom protective foams, styrofoam sheets, and plastic wedges between them to prevent scratching, cracking, or breaking caused by friction.

The immense weight and delicate balance of marble blocks and slabs necessitate the use of specialized equipment during loading. In the loading operations carried out at our facilities, only high-tonnage cranes, heavy-duty lifters, and expert rigging personnel optimized for this task are deployed. While loading the slabs into containers or trucks, the weight distribution is calculated down to the millimeter to maintain the vehicle's axle balance and eliminate vibrations during transit.

To ensure the logistics process is completed safely during overseas voyages or long-haul road journeys, securing (lashing) is of vital importance. The wooden bundles placed inside the container are securely locked to the vehicle chassis using steel cables, heavy-duty ratchet straps, and robust wooden chocks. This absolutely prevents the bundles from shifting and the stones from getting damaged during the swaying motions of vessels in rough seas or sudden braking of trucks.

Another factor we closely monitor in our shipping procedures is humidity and climate control. Especially in maritime transport, container temperature fluctuations and high humidity can cause "container sweat," which may adversely affect the surface quality of premium marble. To prevent this, we wrap the slabs with moisture-resistant protective covers before shipment and place professional desiccant bags inside the containers to keep the microclimate perfectly balanced.
